Partial Discharge Surveyor

Request a quote

The Doble PDS100 Partial Discharge Surveyor is a radio frequency interference (RFI) surveying tool that is designed for partial discharge measurement in a live substation.

Without the need for outages, the PDS100 can detect partial discharge (PD) in just a few seconds – making it an ideal tool for a condition based maintenance program.

Whole substations can be quickly surveyed and analyzed by simply walking around HV apparatus and using the PDS100 to detect and identify sources of PD and external interference.

  • Uses RFI technology to identify and locate defects
  • Detect harmful PD by the electromagnetic energy emitted from the area of activity
  • Compare reference baseline to readings from inside the substation
  • Spectrum and time modes
  • Store recordings in the instrument and later transfer to a PC for further analysis with PDViewer software
  • Rugged, light-weight, hand-held instrument
  • Works with a variety of sensors, probes and antennae for various applications

  • Safe and effective method for PD detection
  • Non-invasive inspection method for substation surveys
  • Use on a daily basis or during routine substation inspections together with other methods such as infrared scanning
  • Cost-effective way to include PD detection in your condition based maintenance program

PD Surveyor with EMI Capabilities

The Doble PDS200 Surveyor is a partial discharge surveyor tool with EMI capabilities. It identifies and analyzes radio frequency (RFI) and lower frequency electromagnetic (EMI) emissions. These are associated with faulty or degraded insulation and other system defects.

The PDS200 uses EMI analysis to discriminate between different defects and discharge sources in transformers, cable terminations, high-voltage substation and plant equipment.

Use the PDS200 to quickly make a system wide survey.

The PDS200 connects with a variety of sensors for various applications. It can be purchased on its own or as part of a packaged kit.

  • Easy to use, handheld device with large display screen
  • Captures the electromagnetic emissions in the RFI and EMI spectrum and displays a “fingerprint” of the defect causing the radiation
  • Select measurement parameters to maximize sensitivity to emissions
  • Synchronize signal capture to the power cycle to facilitate phase resolved PD analysis
  • Connect to a variety of sensors (HFCTs, probes, directional antenna) for different applications
  • Synchronous sampling and display of detector outputs provides discrimination of telecommunication carriers, noise and discharge phenomena
  • Logging of key parameters for trending of emissions

  • Quickly perform surveys without costly outages
  • No physical connections to the unit under test; detection method is truly non-invasive
  • Safe, effective method to detect insulation and mechanical defects
  • Immediate trending of measurements
  • Record and analyze the emissions to make decisions for further actions

RFI & Acoustic Signal Surveyor

Use the Doble DFA300 to identify and locate insulation defects.

This surveying tool combines radio frequency interference (RFI) and acoustic emission (AE).

The DFA300 partial discharge detector can locate partial discharge (PD) in a few seconds.

Designed for surveying live, high voltage apparatus, its versatility makes it the perfect, multi-purpose tool for condition-based maintenance programs.

  • Combination tool uses both RFI and acoustic technology
  • Registers RFI from apparatus with insulation problems including PD and arcing
  • Locate and diagnose internal problems using the acoustic sensor on grounded surfaces
  • Easy to use, handheld device with large display screen

  • Perform non-invasive surveys of critical assets
  • Identify and locate insulation defects in gas insulated and open air substations, transformers, instrument transformers and cable terminations
  • Convenient tool for daily use or routine substation surveys along with thermography

Universal PD & EMI analyzer

MODEL: Spark P3

MAKE: Doble

Doble Spark P3 is a universal partial discharge (PD) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) analyzer that uses a software defined radio signal detector to identify characteristics of insulation system deterioration that could lead to the failure of high voltage equipment. It detects signals from suitable sensors in a frequency range between 9 kHz to 2 GHz for PD and EMI, and DC to 500k Hz for acoustic and reference voltage measurements.

An automatic classification system enables users of all experience levels to easily distinguish partial discharge activity from nuisance signals and classify different types of PD/EMI defects in high-voltage apparatus, including:

  • Rotating machines (PD couplers, HFCT sensors)
  • Power transformers (HFCT sensors, UHF antennas, acoustic microphones)
  • Instrument transformers (HFCT sensors)
  • Switchgear (GIS and AIS – TEV sensors, UHF antennas, HFCT, acoustic sensors, spacer
    sensors, window sensors)
  • Cables and accessories (HFCT, UHF sensors, acoustic sensors)

  • Automatic signal fault classifier
  • Universal detector applicable for most PD testing scenarios
  • Guided mode for minimum operator training requirements
  • Freely configurable and pre-set test plans for any application and automatic data acquisition
  • Battery operated benchtop (lab) or Pelicase (site), 19inch rack-mount adapter available

  • Signal classification algorithm helps inexperienced operators obtain reliable results
  • Guided measurements
  • Automatic measurements and test plans (can be edited)
  • Suits most PD/EMI applications
  • Lightweight battery operated device (suitable for cabin and hold air travel)
